Referrals

Referrals for each patient show in the Family module towards the lower left in the Patient Information section. There will be at least one referral row, or possibly more. Double click on any of the referral rows.

This shows all referrals for one patient, whether referred from or referred to. Click Add. This takes you to the main list of referrals which is described in Referral Setup. You can either pick one from the main list, or add one if it's not on the main list. After selecting your referral, you will see this window:

The boxes that are grayed out can only be changed by using the Edit Referral button. See Referral Setup for more information on editing a referral.

Order is just a very simple way of letting you set what order the referral attachments will show in the list in the Family module. Each patient usually only has one "referred from" item which is what you are usually interested in for reporting. If there is more than one "from" referral, then the one closest to the top is considered to be the primary referral and is used for reporting purposes.

Status gives you these options: None, Declined, Scheduled, Consulted, In Treatment, Complete. For example, if you refer someone out for an RCT, then you could change this status as the patient progresses through treatment. In the future, this status might be used to control various reports and automation, but for now it is just informational.

The patient note is a note which is specific to this patient. It is separate from the note at the top, which is for the referrals source itself.

Referral Slips can be printed from the Referrals Attached window using the button at the bottom.  Once created, they can later be viewed in the Edit Referral Attachment window above, or in the Account or Chart modules.
