Update From the Main Menu, select Help | Update.
Click Check for Updates. You will then be notified of any updates for which you are eligible and be given the opportunity to download and install them. You can install an update from any computer on the network. Before installing, be sure to shut down Open Dental on all other computers. Once you install and run the update, all other computers will be required to update when they first open the program. They won't have to download again, but will automatically use the Setup.exe that was already saved on your network folder. This allows you to easily keep all your computers updated. At the top of the Update window, click the Setup menu item.
Updates won't work without a valid registration key supplied by us. Troubleshooting When the Setup program runs, you would usually expect the first screen to notify you that it was upgrading (from 5.4.18.0 to 5.4.19.0, for instance). If instead, the first screen gives you three options of Modify, Repair, and Uninstall, then you should just click cancel and try to download again, because it's just trying to reinstall the version that you already have installed. You will run into issues like this if you are taking a copy of your database home. When you run it on your home computer, it will try to update the program, but it might not have access to the most recent download. Also, if you switch databases from the Choose Database window, it might not be able to locate the Setup.exe, depending on how you have your Data Paths setup. If you don't have a high-speed internet, you will probably need to install the update from a disk, and you won't even use the window above.
